30 Hours Questionnaire Comments June 2019

Why did you choose our school?

· Good reports good location

· We know XXX and were confident from her care for I.  The WA provision has been essential to enable me to work part time

· Already attending the nursery so made sense to use Marine4 Park for extra provision on the morning I am at work

· Connected to Nursery / continuation / school routine

· Help with working and for XXX to make friends

· To keep our girls entertained as they were getting bored at home.

· XXX has always done more than 15 hrs previous so was used to this and helps with childcare for work.

· As she was accessing nursery and already knows the staff

· The need for childcare due to work

· Both parents work

· The environment and the chance to develop alongside the school

· Convenience and continuity of nursery day into club

· Continuity for XXX

· Extra social playtime

· XXX was to attend PM Nursery and therefore it was easier for him to have further hours at MP than to go elsewhere which in turn gets him used to  longer days ready for Reception

· Allows stimulation.  Allows parents to maintain our work commitments

· The staff, xxxx loves it there

How many of the extra hours do you use each week?

6, 15, 8, 15,7, 10 – 15 , 15, 12, 15, 15, 10, 15, 12, 8, 15-20, 15, 12

Thank you for your lovely positive comments. These are available to view on our school website. We also value your suggestions on what we could do better and would like to take the opportunity to respond to some of your feedback:

Liaison with Nursery: Nursery and 30 hour wraparound staff liaise throughout the school day to ensure children are happy and contented, and that information is shared. Half termly 30 hour Nursery provision meetings enable key senior leaders and Early Years staff to share current practice and issues with the school office manager and out of school club business manager to ensure a holistic approach to the wraparound provision is maintained. Wraparound do offer the opportunity for parents and carers to meet with them on parents’ evenings. We will consider the logistics of joint parents’ evenings, although this may not be practical as not all children are accessing the extended provision.

‘More technology’: The carefully resourced and enhanced role play areas give children the opportunity to develop their understanding of technology in terms of household appliances, tills, hairdressing equipment, telephones, computers etc. Children in Nursery all access the ICT suite to develop their ICT skills. We feel the extended provision provides a valuable opportunity to develop the prime areas of learning which are particularly crucial at this stage of the children’s development. These are Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

Feedback on lunchtime: 30 hour wraparound staff do keep a ‘Food Diary’ on all of the children at lunchtime, to ensure they are having enough to eat to sustain them through the day, and also to monitor their likes and dislikes in terms of the meals which you have chosen for them. If there are any concerns, staff speak to parents and carers to discuss the way forward.

Invoicing: The current invoicing system is under review for Wraparound provision and Out of School Club. New procedures will be in place from September. Parents and carers will be informed of the changes in due course.
