Summary: We were pleased to note very high satisfaction levels in response to the questions asked and that there were no (0)  “4” or  5/Inadequate judgements. We observed pupils develop emotionally, socially and physically whilst at Robinwood. We also think the pupils had a wonderful time and the questionnaires and positive comments seem to confirm this view. Thanks go to Mr. Harrison for organising the trip and to the Marine Park and Robinwood staff for the very high standard of care and instruction provided.

We received lots of positive and constructive comments and suggestions. Read below

Suggestions for improvements prior to the trip:

· All great thank you.  Really appreciate the payment in instalments

· All good

· Was happy with all the information received, Kept well informed

· No suggestions it was great

· None all great!

· Instalment payments / payment reminders

· Maybe some reminders about paying as it’s easy to forget

(Response: We do send reminders about and if payments are not made)

· Maybe a slightly longer time period to pay over or let parents know the cost a little earlier for budgeting purposes.

(Response: We launch the trip in January and hope that gives enough time to budget. We have considered having the meeting in the autumn term but we have been reluctant to seek payments in the run up to Christmas.)

Suggestions for improvement whilst we are away:

· Had an amazing time.  Felt he came back more mature.  Fabulous trip and experience for the year 4’s.  No suggestions

· No – we very much appreciated the text to say they arrived safely

· None M thoroughly enjoyed this trip.

· All good

· Some of the merchandise seemed expensive otherwise, excellent trip

· More vegetarian options at breakfast e.g. eggs

(Response: We have fed this back to Robinwood)

· More time in your bedrooms to rest.  More snacks and drinks.

(Response: Children had free access to a range of fruit, water and juice at all times of the day)

· To get more time in the piranha pool.

(Response: It sounds as thought your child enjoyed this activity. Of course, if the children spent longer on sessions, they would not get to do as many activities. We feel the activity length is about right)

· More time there

(Response: We feel that 3 days/2 nights it about right for the age of the children.)

· A nightlight in Pheasant dorm please

· Beds could be more comfortable

(Response: We have fed this back to Robinwood)

· Maybe a text confirming ‘children have now arrived back at school’ after the ‘bus is now in Backworth so should be back soon’ message to avoid confusion.

· Text return time earlier than when at Backworth.  If going to be earlier than expected arrive time.

(Response: It is difficult to predict the exact time of arrival because of the departure order of schools as well as the traffic en-route. If we text too early there is a chance that the situation could change. We thought it would be helpful to advise parents that we would be arriving ahead of schedule as soon as we were sure this would be the case.)

· Would like to receive more texts regarding how the children are doing

· Lack of contact – 1 message a day isn’t enough.  3 days is a long time but can understand its busy

· More updates!  Maybe a couple of pictures.

· I would have liked more texts to say how the children were doing and details of what they had been doing that day.

(Response: As outlined at the meeting before we left, we send a text on arrival, at the start of day 2 and 3 and then update about the estimated arrival time back at school. There are multiple groups doing a carousel of activities across the 3 days so it would not be possible to easily provide details of what each child had been doing each day. There is an example timetable on the PowerPoint presentation which is on the school website. Be assured, we would send additional texts (or make direct contact) if there were any important news whilst away. School staff that are on the trip focus on the children whilst away– time spent uploading photos would take them away from supporting and ensuring they have a great time. However, Mr Harrison does create a slideshow  on return which you will be able to view on the school website.)

Any additional comments or suggestions

· A big thank you to Mr Harrison for taking care of E while we came to collect her

· My child loved it!

· I had the best time I’ve ever had!!!

· Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

· Text updates are good, thanks

· Think the amount of texts while away was spot on, as parents we went with the adage of ‘no news is good news!’

· Thank you for providing L with such a fantastic experience.  Many thanks to all the staff who contributed to the experience

· Thank you for giving G such a fantastic experience

· ‘The most amazing thing I’ve ever done with school

· I really liked Cristina my group leader

· M had a fantastic and memorable time.  The Piranha Pool was the best thing I have ever done

· I loved Robinwood it was a great experience and was a trip I will never forget

· Despite our worries, and his before he went L absolutely loved it and really seemed to thrive.  It did his confidence the world of good and improved his esteems.  Thanks it was great to be able to visit beforehand

· I’m unsure if this is already in place, but I was concerned about the amount of children who didn’t go.  If his was due to the cost then I’m wondering if the PTA could help with this.  Perhaps it would be good to offer parents help with the cost if needed?

· Really enjoyed Robinwood experience – she wants to go back

· Absolutely loved every minute

· J loved the trip

· From the vegetarian menu there was no hot meal for lunch.  Would like to see hot meals in the future.

· (Response: There were hot and cold options. Children could order a panini or jacket potato)

· Maybe in class discussions about being away from home and ‘how I feel’ my child was in a group of ‘criers’ and wasn’t as enjoyable for them due to this. Whilst I appreciate each child is different, pre-discussions may have helped overcome this. (Response: We do provide very similar information to the children before we go.)

· Beds were uncomfortable

· (Response: We have fed this back to Robinwood)

· F had a wobble the day of departure but was well looked after by staff.  The following morning he was sick and understandably needed to be separated from the group.  This was due to anxiety, so felt that the period he was left alone was maybe too long.  All in all he enjoyed the trip and I’m pleased he challenged himself to do some new things.

· (Response: Robinwood have strict rules about the length of quarantine and the requirements in order for this to be lifted. This is in place in the interests, wellbeing and health of the child that has been ill/sick as well as all of the other children and staff. Be assured we checked in repeatedly and made sure any children that had been ill/sick (for any reason) re-joined the group as soon as possible.
