Notes:

The % results have been rounded to the nearest whole number. Therefore totals may not always add up to exactly 100.

The results of this questionnaire and all other “Your Say” exercises are published on the school website. Governors have also reviewed the responses.

Thank you to the 47 Y4 pupils that completed and returned the questionnaires.

We were pleased to note very high satisfaction levels in response to the questions asked and the very low number (only 1) of “inadequate” answers to all questions. We observed pupils develop emotionally, socially and physically whilst at Robinwood. We also think the pupils had a wonderful time and the questionnaires seem to confirm this view. Thanks go to Mr. Harrison for organising the trip and to the Marine Park and Robinwood staff for the very high standard of care and instruction provided.

We are sensitive to the cost of this trip but still feel that, like 83% of respondents, it does offer good (or better) value for money. The transport costs alone account for a sizeable proportion of the costs. The pupils undertake a significant number of activities, receive appropriate equipment for these activities and the overall cost includes accommodation and catering. If cost are broken down into cost per activity (including instruction by qualified staff), hire of equipment, accommodation and food, we feel they are competitive. We will continue to seek the best possible price for travel and our stay at Robinwood and would consider other options if the price became prohibitive for our pupils/carers. One parent raised a query as to whether the cost to non-free school meals was subsidising the trip for pupils in receipt of free school meals. This is not the case. The school uses the Pupil Premium to support the cost of the trip for pupils eligible.

We received some comments about arrangements for collecting children at the end of the trip. These comments related to the staggered arrival of the two buses, the  pupils and bags. Some comments also related to the way arrival times were communicated via text messages.  To explain, the buses were separated on departure from Robinwood and this gap grew  resulting in one bus arriving much earlier than the other. We acted in  good faith, trying to keep parents informed based on the information we had but completely accept that this delay was frustrating for parents and pupils at the end of a busy couple of days apart. We would like to apologise for this and, in future, will ensure that, as much as possible, the buses travel in convoy and arrive together. We will also ensure staff communicate both between the buses and with school more effectively .
